Ivory Silk Stockings are the perfectly period-correct legwear for all your historical ensembles. Our delicate, off-white stockings come up above the knee, stay up on their own, can be rolled, or tied with ribbon garters, and will pair nicely with all periods of dress.

See our tutorial about how to seam the stockings or to reduce excess footage for small feet.  If your legs are wider than the max stretch listed below, cut the top band off, fold the edge and finish with loose zig-zag handstitches, and wear with a ribbon garter for an excellent historical touch!

Care instructions: Hand wash. Do not Bleach. Line-dry to protect the texture.

Materials & Sizing

  • 70% Silk & 30% Nylon
  • Top quality silk is lightweight and opaque
  • Stockings come up above the knee, and stay up without garters
  • Will fit women's shoe sizes US 6+
  • Maximum stretch circumference at top is approximately 21 inches / 53 cm. However, we find that they are more comfortably worn when stretched to no  more than 17 inches / 46 cm at the top.

Stocking review

Pretty color, clocking detail is cool and they're warm and cozy. The only drawback is both stockings were torn- the right one was torn on the front and the left one was torn on the back. I'm not sure if they were torn when I first got them or if I caused it by pulling them too far up my leg? Either way, the tears are barely noticable and they don't make the stockings unwearable.

Do note that these stockings are designed with a faux 'seam' up the back of each, which functionally looks a bit like a dropped stitch all the way up. From your description, I think that this may be what you're seeing - you just have one stocking turned around so the faux seam is on the front.

These stockings are comfortable and easy to wear. Definitely don't need garters to keep them up, though on my thunderous gams they do sit better just below the knee. The foot part fits my size 9s super well, and I agree with the stated top stretch circumference (21"/53cm) in the product description. They look gorgeous with the American Duchess and Royal Vintage shoes from every era, and also look cute with denim shorts and Converse sneakers. Bonus: they survived the washer AND dryer! I had meant to wash them by hand (as instructed on the packaging), but by the time laundry day came round I was exhausted and just threw everything in together (don't judge). They survived, with no shrinkage or snags. I ordered these bundled with an indulgent amount of other stockings, shoes and other items, and they all arrived in wonderful time. A system-generated email arrived after the order did, making sure that the package had arrived, and outlining the (very generous) return period and policies (which I won't be taking advantage of).

Very nice high quality stockings. They reach a nice height on my legs (I'm 4'11 for reference) and fit my feet perfectly (I'm size 6 for reference). They don't quite fit my thighs which measure around 19 inches even though they advertise it as fitting approximately 21 inches, though I just rolled it down once and now it fits fine. They are overall comfortable and the clocked design is very cute.
